Lissette Whitehead is an energetic, positive young woman who has been a friend of Medi-Rub for many years. While on a vacation in 2005, Lissette sustained a spinal cord injury which left her a quadriplegic and confined to a wheelchair. while exploring recovery options, Lissette learned of a program in Carlsbad, California called Project Walk. The goal at Project Walk is to offer an improved quality of life for people with injuries like Lissette’s through intense exercise-based recovery programs, education, support and encouragement. Lissette began her own rigorous therapy sessions at the facility and soon learned the difficulties of gripping the exercise equipment with little or no hand function. As a solution to this problem, Lissette developed a therapy glove call LW Grip Gloves. Made of soft durable leather with Velcro straps, these gloves are available for purchase. All proceeds from their sale help Lissette continue her therapy and achieve her goal to walk again. |
